Texting while driving law now in effect
MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC)- The new law banning texting while driving goes into effect today in Alabama.
If you are caught texting, e-mailing or instant messaging while driving, you could pay a fine. The first offense will cost violators $25. The fine increases to $50 for the second offense and $75 for the third. Court costs will make those amounts even higher.
A ticket for texting while driving could also increase your car insurance rates.
