Judge denies bail for man charged with wife's 1999 murder | Crime
Jody Byrd, the man charged with the murder of his wife Desta Dodson Byrd, appeared for an arraignment at the Bibb County Courthouse on Tuesday, July 26. During the arraignment today, a judge denied the request for bail to be granted in Byrd's case.
Byrd is being held without bond on capital murder charges. He was arrested in May 2011 for the murder of his wife, which occurred more than 12 years ago. (For more background info, click here for our previous story "Desta Dodson Byrd's husband charged with her 1999 murder.")
The Bibb County assistant district attorney said Byrd's trial could begin in February 2012.
